Backend Developer

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer to join our engineering team. You'll design, build, and maintain scalable server-side applications and APIs that power our products. You'll work closely with frontend developers, DevOps, and product managers to deliver reliable, high-performance systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability
• Design and manage relational and non-relational databases
• Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic
• Implement security best practices (authentication, authorization, data encryption)
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and debug production issues
• Write unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality
• Contribute to system design discussions and architecture decisions

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of backend development experience
• Proficiency in one or more languages: Python, Node.js, Java, Go, or Ruby
• Experience with frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, Express.js, Spring Boot, or Rails
• Strong understanding of REST API design and best practices
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis)
• Familiarity with Docker and containerization
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control with Git
• Knowledge of cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Nice to Have

• Experience with message queues: Kafka, RabbitMQ, Celery
• Knowledge of GraphQL
• Experience with Kubernetes or container orchestration
• Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, or AI/LLM integration
• Understanding of distributed systems patterns (CQRS, Saga, Outbox, Circuit Breaker)
• AWS certifications (Developer Associate or higher)

Compensation & Financial

• Competitive salary: $85,000 – $117,000/year based on experience
